So Cal .5 Pro Lite Series
“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games.”
Ernest Hemingway
HISTORY
The National Muscle Car Association made an announcement October 16 2017 that their NMCA West series would be cancelled effective immediately. The racers, that supported this west coast series for six years were left with no future program for 2018. Racers Dan Marciano and Steve Cox decided to take a look at which NMCA West class`s had good car counts. They discovered class`s that used a .5 Pro Tree had the best support. After several meetings that Steve Cox had with The Auto Club Dragway the yet unnamed series was given six dates for the 2018 Drag Racing season.
The next step would be to name the series, approach various business associates that would sponsor and benefit from this type of one class series. In the end, the business partners, sponsors and meetings were a success and thus the beginning of the So Cal .5 Pro Lite Series was born on April 5 2018. The new series had a total of 22 racers sign up for the first race. Dan and Steve felt this was a great turn out of support from the racers, especially for a new series with only one class.
The So Cal .5 Pro Lite Series have averaged 18 cars per race. The series currently have a total of 16 business partners including six contingency sponsors.
